I have loved this band since this single took the UK by storm in the early noughties. I still listen to them a lot; I love the twisted, cryptic lyrics and the anthemic beauty of the songs. Live they take my breath away. This song was the one that really got me hooked and made me buy the album. It isn’t my favourite by any means but started my affair with them. The song is principally about jealousy but I’ve interpreted the one line to mean something completely different…

I’m a jealous person at heart. It pervaded many of my early relationships and I know now was a symptom of my own lack of self-confidence. I could never really understand why anyone would want to be my girlfriend.

The image is simply a comment on how easily pregnancy can occur. The heavily pregnant model might have been planning this moment for all her life but it may simply be a situation she’s found herself in. The processing suggests the latter and in her head, it was simply a kiss that went too far. How many lives have been hugely changed forever by one stolen moment of lust?
