beauty - retro portraits

Looking for new inspiration I happened across a music video quite by chance. It gave me an idea to work in mono, something I hadn't done for many years. I liked the gritty, grainy and contrasty look that typical early Hollywood made famous. This isn't anything new but it was to me and so I set about my task. It isn't finished yet and hopefully it'll keep evolving but as a work in progress, I'm enjoying the shooting, meeting great models and experimenting with new ideas.

All the shots are created at my or the model's home with minimum lighting, sometimes just natural light. Some are posed, others candid grabs while chatting and drinking cups of tea. They're simple, beautiful and relaxed.

My massive love and thanks go to all these simply amazing people who've put up with me, laughed at me and made the whole project both successful and more importantly, a real pleasure to work on. The creativity, attention to detail and talent these models possess is just awesome.
