Our second trip storm chasing in the High Plains of the USA.
Not all went according to plan when on our 4th day of chasing we got too close to a high precipitation cell and were blindsided by a tornado just outside Lawrence, Kansas. Two of our four tour vans were flipped but we escaped in ours thanks to a small cutting in the road which protected us. It was a scary and life affirming moment. Thankfully, despite a few broken bones, nobody was too seriously injured.
Despite this, we continued chasing these stunning reminders of natures raw power for a further week across Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Texas and Oklahoma. In 11 days we covered over 6,000 miles.
