Autumn Leaves
Artist: David Gray
Song: Babylon
Album: White Ladder
Model: Soria
Location: Sutton Benger, Wiltshire UK

Notes:-
This song and album became poignant during an emotionally difficult time for me. My marriage was failing and I was desperately wanting to recover it somehow. I didn’t know how to make it right, I tried various things but when love goes, it’s hard to recover it. The song lyrics (as many I suppose often do) talked to me at a time I needed comfort and meaning. My interpretation at the time was of someone having done something they later regret, costing them (they now realise), a very high price. The song almost pleads with the other party to come back and forgive. I knew it was too late, I knew the damage was way beyond repair but I wanted it all back and to be perfect, “Babylon”.

The image was shot on a damp November morning in Wiltshire, (reflecting my mood of the time) and depicts the sadness of watching a loved one walking away and being unable to influence their return. They are within touching distance but travelling into the mist (and wilderness) with their own choices to make (their path), without you.
