Like an Angel
Artist: Radiohead
Song: Creep
Album: Pablo Honey
Model: ‘Lulu Lockheart’
Location: Worcestershire

Notes:-
Radiohead’s first studio album (1993) and I admit, it was a couple of years later that I realised what a band they were. I’d heard this song on MTV and was impressed. The return of guitar music by new bands in the 90’s was welcomed by me. The video shot at one of their gigs reminded me of the good old punk days. The dynamics in the song coupled with Thom Yorke’s vocals still move me.

It takes a special band to pull off hard choppy guitars with sentiment and fragility and Radiohead is one such band. The fact they threw in the “f” word a couple of times also appeals to my sense of rebellion! The song is much more than that though. It’s about not fitting in, of being on the outside looking in and wishing you could join the party but aren’t accepted. I’ve been there as I know have many others.

The shot itself took a while to come to fruition. I’d toyed with loads of ideas but none seemed to suit the feel I was trying to get across. Any angelic reference threatened to make the shot flippant and cheap. I desperately didn’t want that. I’m pleased the final image displays the purity and beauty I was after together with a slightly spiritual overtone that to me is wasted.
